Workplace Sleep Solutions

Your shift workers are
losing 3–4 sick days a year
to a solvable problem.

Untreated shift work sleep disorder costs Australian employers an estimated $2,000–$5,000 per affected worker per year in absenteeism, errors and turnover. The Deep Sleep Blueprint is the evidence-based resource that addresses it at the individual level — where rostering policy can't reach.

Shift work sleep disorder is
the most under-managed fatigue risk
in Australian workplaces.

32% of permanent night and rotating shift workers in Australia suffer from clinically significant Shift Work Sleep Disorder or severe chronic sleep deprivation. These are not employees who are occasionally tired. They are operating under measurable cognitive impairment — equivalent, in terms of decision-making, to having a blood alcohol reading at the legal limit.

The consequences show up in your data: higher absenteeism, more near-misses, higher healthcare utilisation, and elevated turnover among experienced frontline staff who quietly burn out and leave.

Most organisations address fatigue with rostering policy and incident reporting. Very few give workers the practical, science-based tools to actually recover between shifts. That's the gap.

What poor sleep is already costing you.

3–4 additional sick days per year for shift workers with untreated sleep disorders vs day workers
32% of rotating and night shift workers meet criteria for clinically significant sleep disorder
$350–$800 typical cost to replace a single shift worker’s sick day — before errors, near-misses and turnover are counted
17hrs without sleep = cognitive impairment equivalent to 0.05% blood alcohol — the legal driving limit

Rostering policy and incident reporting manage the risk on paper. What most organisations don't give their people is a practical, science-based way to actually recover between shifts. That is what the Blueprint is for.

High-density shift work sectors.

Healthcare & Aged Care
33% SWSD prevalence in hospital staff
Nurses, wardspeople, care workers, allied health. Chronic workforce shortages make retention and wellbeing investment critical.
Mining & Resources (FIFO)
High disposable income, high compliance risk
2-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off patterns create severe circadian disruption. Workers actively seek fatigue solutions.
Emergency Services
40% of police screen positive for sleep disorders
Police, paramedics, firefighters face unique neurochemical burden. Standard fatigue resources are insufficient for this cohort.
Logistics & Transport
Safety-critical fatigue management obligation
Trucking, freight, warehousing, maritime. Fatigue directly correlates with incident rates and regulatory compliance exposure.
Manufacturing
50%+ of rotating workers report chronic issues
Round-the-clock operations with rotating crews. Quality and safety incidents peak at circadian low points — addressable with better rest protocols.
Hospitality & Security
Night-dominant, high-turnover workforce
Late-night and overnight roles. High stress, variable hours. Often overlooked in corporate wellness programs despite significant need.

Is this something your

Common questions.

What happens after I register interest?
We read every registration. If there is a fit, we will contact you by email to talk it through. Registering does not commit you or us to anything, and we will not add you to a marketing list.
Is this compliant with workplace fatigue management obligations?
The Blueprint is an educational resource, not a fatigue management policy or regulatory compliance tool. It complements — and significantly strengthens — existing fatigue management programs by addressing the individual behavioural and physiological factors that policy alone cannot reach.
What if our workforce spans multiple shift patterns?
The Blueprint covers all five patterns: fixed night (Track A), rotating roster (Track B), law enforcement and emergency services (Track C), divergent timezone remote workers (Track D), and long-haul and transport drivers (Track E). A single copy gives any worker access to all five tracks plus the universal science sections — so a mixed workforce is covered by the one resource.
